How to handle words from an enlightened soul, when you are a non-enlightened one

People starting their journeys on the path of spirituality, often read or hear words from many masters (an enlightened soul), and gets confused. It is natural. On my course, I learned or realized a few things, which I will share with you. It is good to learn from the mistakes of others. I am not yet enlightened, but quite a handful of things, listed below, I learned:

Never directly apply, what masters say, in your own life, they are talking from a different plane. Through their words just derive a motivation for meditation.

Many masters say that meditation and effort are paradoxical terms. For them meditation is effortless, again, their whole being is in meditation every moment. We (the non-enlightened ones) need effort in the beginning, maybe for many years or maybe for a few hours, to meditate and to transform. Effort is needed because of the accustom-ism , the accustom-ism of living in past and future. Giving up old accustom-ism and acquiring a new one, needs a great deal of effort in the beginning, but as one gets comfortable with the new accustom-ism, the magnitude of effort reduces (more the comfort, less the effort).
